Education is Prevention: The Frontline Workers Making a Difference
Published on 8th of May 2025
Every step toward ending domestic and family violence begins with education.
Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month reminds us that raising awareness is crucial - but knowledge alone isn’t enough. It’s what we do with that knowledge that creates change.
At DV-alert, we believe education is prevention. Our training equips frontline workers with the practical skills, confidence, and language to recognise signs early, respond appropriately, and refer to support services. Many learners have shared how DV-alert has changed the way they support people experiencing violence - creating safer futures, one conversation at a time.
This month, we’re celebrating the power of education and the frontline workers turning knowledge into action. Because education isn’t just about learning - it’s about action.
Here’s what some of our DV-alert learners had to say:
“I Now Have the Language to Name It”
"The discussions and the specific language of this workshop remain within me to this day. I have lived experience of domestic violence and coercive control… When your trainers began to describe this behaviour, I knew it intimately. I now can name it, in public. It is no longer a non-spoken topic… I feel empowered and free again."
DV-alert training empowers learners with more than information - it gives them the tools to name violence, understand it, and speak about it with confidence. Education provides the language that survivors and frontline workers need to break the silence, seek help, and offer support.
“This Course Has Empowered Me to Empower Others”
"As a person subjected to domestic violence, this course has empowered me to empower others."
For those with lived experience, education can transform personal pain into collective strength. DV-alert training equips learners to become trusted supporters and advocates in their communities - proving that when we educate one, we empower many.
“Exceptional Trainers, Life-Changing Training”
"Exceptional trainers who facilitated a very difficult subject. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and feel empowered to help any domestic and family violence case. Thank you."
Compassionate, expert facilitation is at the heart of DV-alert. By delivering education in a safe and supportive environment, our trainers ensure that frontline workers gain the skills and confidence to respond and support those experiencing, or at risk of, domestic and family violence.
“I Feel Confident I Can Help and Support”
"I feel confident that I can help and support any woman who experiences domestic and family violence, and guide them through a safe passage."
Education builds the confidence to act. Through DV-alert training, frontline workers are equipped to walk alongside survivors, offering informed and compassionate support during some of the most difficult times of their lives.
"I Feel More Empowered to Recognise, Respond and Refer.”
"I feel more empowered to recognise domestic and family violence and will always stand up for those impacted."
Recognising domestic and family violence - especially when it’s not physical - requires education. Coercive control, emotional abuse, financial manipulation, and isolation can be harder to see. By educating frontline workers, we ensure more people are equipped to notice, believe, and support.
"The Trainers Were Genuine and Showed Care in Sharing Their Own Experiences"
"The trainers showed genuine care for this training and empowered me in their personal stories and their acknowledgement to know when they needed to take a breather - and that I can do that too."
Talking about domestic and family violence can be confronting and emotional. That’s why DV-alert prioritises safe, supportive learning spaces. Our trainers lead with care and empathy, ensuring every learner feels empowered to take what they’ve learned beyond the workshop.
Education is Prevention.
Every frontline worker trained, every conversation started, and every survivor supported proves that knowledge can stop violence before it escalates.
This Domestic Violence Prevention Month, we reaffirm our commitment: through education, we can prevent violence and build safer futures for all.
