2-Day Foundations Workshop
This 2-Day Foundations Workshop is offered at no cost to help frontline workers recognise the signs of domestic and family violence, and know what to do next. This workshop is the first step in DV-alert's Assessment Pathway, preparing learners for further training and leading to a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.
What you will learn
This workshop covers the nature and scope, patterns and impacts of domestic and family violence, what to consider for diverse groups, communication skills, safety planning, referral pathways and more.
By the end of the workshop, you will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to:
- Identify and respond to the needs of clients who may be experiencing domestic and family violence
- Respond appropriately and how to refer clients to appropriate services and support
Who should attend?
This workshop is ideal for frontline workers in health, allied health, education, and community services sectors, as well as anyone who works or volunteers in a role where they may come into contact with people experiencing domestic and family violence.

Assessment Pathway
The 2-Day Foundations Workshop is the first step in our Assessment Pathway, designed for frontline workers who want to deepen their knowledge and skills in responding to domestic and family violence.
Once you complete the 2-Day Foundations Workshop, you can continue your learning journey through our 1-day focused workshops, which offer in-depth training on specific topics such as:
- First Nations
- Gendered Violence in Diverse Communities
- Men who use Violence
- Multicultural
- Women with Disability
Upon completing the eLearning Foundations, 2-Day Foundations Workshop and one of the focused workshops, you are eligible to enrol in the Assessments. After successfully completing each component of the Assessment Pathway, you’ll receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency CHCDFV001: Recognise and respond appropriately to domestic and family violence.
