What you will learn
This 11-hour online self-paced course complements the 2-day Foundations workshop. You can complete it either before or after attending the Foundations workshop, allowing for in-depth study through optional reading materials, quizzes and videos.
Learners can choose to:
1. complete the eLearning Foundations as a standalone course, or
2. follow the DV-alert Assessment Pathway to receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency CHHDFV001: Recognise and respond appropriately to domestic and family violence.
To receive the Statement of Attainment, you will complete:
- DV-alert eLearning Foundations course (this course)
- DV-alert 2-Day Foundations Workshop
- DV-alert 1-day focused workshop
- Assessment
Who should attend?
This workshop is ideal for frontline workers in health, allied health, education, and community services sectors, as well as anyone who works or volunteers in a role where they may come into contact with people experiencing domestic and family violence.

- build knowledge and skills to become a confident first responder to domestic and family violence

Assessment Pathway
The eLearning course Foundations is a key component of the DV-alert Assessment Pathway, designed for frontline workers who want to deepen their knowledge and skills in responding to domestic and family violence.
After completing this course, the 2-Day Foundations Workshop or 2-Day First Nations Foundations workshop, and one 1-day focused workshop, you can enrol in the Assessment session. Available 1-day focused workshops include:
- First Nations
- Gendered Violence in Diverse Communities
- Men who use Violence
- Multicultural
- Women with Disability
Once each of the three course components has been completed, you can enrol in the Assessment session. Successful completion of the two assessments will achieve a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency CHCDFV001: Recognise and respond appropriately to domestic and family violence.
